The objective of this paper is to develop a low price recording system able to read certain parameters from the vehicle’s on-board computer, without the use of a dedicated/ universal tester. The main purpose of present paper is to measure the vehicle’s speed and engine speed so that by knowing the specific transmission ratio from gear box and bevel gearing, to automatically indicate gear step and best moment to shift the gear. The final goal is to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
